Aberdeen Police: Attempted robbery suspect wielding knife tasered, bean bagged

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - An Aberdeen man was tasered and shot with bean bags during an attempted robbery Friday morning, police say.

Aberdeen Police and Brown County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 10 block of S. Court Street just before 5 am. The suspect was reportedly attempting to enter a vehicle in the area. Police say the vehicle’s owner confronted the suspect and that the suspect brandished a knife.

Authorities fired multiple rounds of bean bags and tasered the suspect after he did no comply with commands from officers. The suspect was treated for injuries at an Aberdeen hospital before being transported to the Brown County Jail.

The suspect was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, attempted robbery, and more.
