BELLE FOURCHE, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Authorities say one person is dead following a West River crash involving three vehicles.

The accident took place Wednesday in Belle Fourche, according to the South Dakota Highway Patrol.

Troopers say a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier was headed north on U.S. Highway 85 when it crossed into the southbound lanes, sideswiped a pickup, then collided with a southbound semi truck.

The 43-year-old man driving the Cavalier died at the scene. The drivers of the other two vehicles, both men, were uninjured. Troopers say only the driver of the pickup was wearing a seat belt.

The victim’s name has not been released. The South Dakota Highway Patrol is in charge of the investigation.
