HUD Sioux Falls provides COVID-19 vaccine information to residents
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - U.S Housing and Urban Development begin an initiative to provide vaccine information to their residents all over the country, including in Sioux Falls.
“We feel that sometimes individuals in HUD-assisted apartments may not get the word as much as others. So we want to make sure that they are fully informed of the availability of the vaccine and the benefits of vaccination,” Roger Jacobs said, the field office director for HUD Sioux Falls.
The vaccine has been met by skepticism by some.
“There’s a lot of myths out there about the vaccinations. Some of the information we’re providing addresses those myths,” Jacobs said.
Jeff Wilka is a resident at a HUD-assisted apartment in Sioux Falls, and he originally was hesitant to get the vaccine, but he decided to become vaccinated.
“I would like to have some protection in my life. I’ve recently fought off pneumonia so I’m glad I got the vaccine shots,” Wilka said.
Members at U.S Housing and Urban Development also want to remind those in the community of the ability to receive free rides to vaccine clinics by calling the Helpline Center. That phone number is 211
