UPDATE: SFPD report nothing suspicious suspected in fatal fire
SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Sioux Falls police reported Tuesday that there appears to be nothing suspicious about the cause of Monday’s apartment fire where one man was found dead.
An autopsy has been performed on the victim to determine his cause of death, but those results are not available yet. The identity of the victim will not be released if it is determined that his death was not the result of criminal activity.
The investigation into the fire remains ongoing.
PREVIOUS: Authorities say a central Sioux Falls apartment fire victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say the incident took place at approximately 3:33 a.m., and the apartment complex is located near W. 9th St. and Duluth Ave. Fire crews searched the area of the fire and found one victim who was pronounced dead.
The main body of the fire was extinguished within 10 minutes, and responders remained on the scene for several hours to ensure the fire was completely extinguished.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to remind everyone of the importance of having a fire escape plan and working smoke detectors throughout your home.
